Shavuot is a mysterious holiday. It is a regel, a pilgrimage festival, like Sukkot and Pesach, that is closely tied to the agricultural cycle in the Land of Israel. And, according to tradition, but never explicitly mentioned in the Torah, it shares a date with the important occasion of the giving of the Torah at Sinai.

The Revelation at Sinai was awesome in the most complete sense of the word. Sound and light. A volcanic revelation that was made not just to Moses but to the entire nation. Even more awesome is the idea that every Jew, that ever was and ever will be, was present at the Revelation.

Torah is not just a book we open, it is a story we are already part of and something that is a part of us. Engaging with Torah becomes an act of recognition, remembering, and finding oneself in ideas and connections that has been with you all along.

We each carry a piece of Torah from our personal encounter at Sinai. Perhaps it is a verse that speaks in our language. Maybe it is a question that you can’t let go. It might be a phrase where the text feels like a mirror.

Torah can be likened to travel. We travel through time and space, see visions, and entertain ideas we meet. We journey with a partner, with or without a guide. We invest in memory-making moments and capture snapshots that we can keep with us for all time, that we can look at to evoke memories.

This Tiny Tikkun is not a map, but a collection of pathways.

Each source sheet offers a way in: into a story, a metaphor, a moment, or a question. You can journey through them in order or wherever you feel drawn. Study alone, with a partner, or as a group.

Let the words help you find the part of yourself that never left Sinai.

Here are the four pathways this Tiny Tikkun explores:

The Language of Torah

Torah Is Like Water

Turn It and Turn It

We All Stood at Sinai
