Guiding Questions: Psalms 46

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. Do Psalms 46:2-4 reflect confidence, uncertainty, or total security?
  2. Psalms 46:5-6 make reference to “God’s city” — is that city specified?
  3. In Psalms 46:8 the Psalmist notes that “the Lord of hosts is with us”; who is the “us”?
  4. In Psalms 46:10, does the Psalm seem to move from a national theme to a universal expectation — and, if so, what is that expectation?
  5. In the closing passages, is God reflected as “of Israel” alone or, rather, universal but (Psalms 46:12) with a special relationship to “Jacob”?
