Guiding Questions: Psalms 140

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. Unlike the Psalmist in Psalms 139, what is the condition/mood/attitude of the Psalmist (Psalms 140:2-3)?
  2. Is the Psalmist asking to be safe from illness or economic woe or, rather, from something other (Psalms 140:5-6)?
  3. In Psalms 140:8 does the Psalmist indicate that he had previously been “saved”?
  4. What is it that the Psalmist asks for those who threaten him and who are evil (Psalms 140:10-11)?
  5. And, in Psalms 140:13-14 does the Psalmist conclude that his tefillah will, indeed, be answered?
