  2. Does “gibor halyil” (Ruth 2:1) refer to military prowess or strength of character/community leadership?
  3. Is Ruth aware of the family relationship of Boaz? (Ruth 2:2)
  4. Who initiates the “contact” with Boaz?
  5. What does Ruth 2:4 indicate as to Boaz’s faith?
  6. Why does Boaz speak as he does to Ruth? (Ruth 2:8)
  7. Why would Boaz instruct his workers to exercise especial care for what (in essence) was an impecunious Moabite woman?
  8. Does Ruth clearly state that she is (or is not) a Moabite still? (Ruth 2:10)
  9. Boaz’s motive for unusual consideration is stated in Ruth 2:11 — what is it?
  10. Does Ruth 2:12 imply/explicate (closing passage) that Boaz considers Ruth a Jewess?
  11. What does Ruth mean when she says: “I will not be as one of your handmaidens”? (Ruth 2:13; see verb “eheyeh”)
  12. From the text of Ruth 2:15 what one does conclude as to the usual “tolerance” of those poor who collected fallen grain?
  13. Would Ruth 2:19 and Ruth 2:1-2 seem to be in tension — or is Naomi (self-described as aged) somewhat forgetful?
  14. In Ruth 2:22 does Naomi hope for action by Boaz or, rather, that Ruth be secure from molestation?
